Our position at noon today is starting our Pacific Ocean crossing. It is sunny and 75 degrees. So far seas are not too rough. The Captain said we will be leaving Peru's waters around 2pm.
LIMA'S PORT FINALLY OPENED AT 3PM YESTERDAY
Seabourn's Quest is finally escaping Lima.YEA! Here comes our pilot to take us to our dock.
Pilot boarding.Tug escorting us.
Lots of fishing boats in the harbor.
These 3 containers contain the 120 pallets of provisions/foods.
This is a huge container port.
The linemen getting ready to tie us to the pier. We were finally docked at 4pm
Rommel made me my 4pm Illycrema with a shot of espresso to wake me up.
LAST EVENING
Patti was the first one of the 4 to receive her Commodore's jacket. Next up were Jimbo and Mary Ann Todd. Two super nice people from Tulsa. Last one honored with the jacket was Cornelius. Here are the 4 new Commodores.Group photo of the 9 being honored. There is one more Commodore who will be honored later on during this cruise. Marcia Rector is deferring to later date.
Another special touch during the presentations was a short video shown on the big screen with words of congratulations from our suite attendants, destinations manager, cruise director, Janine, General Manager, and Captain. Each of us had a video. I hope to get a copy to put on the blog at a later date. It was a really nice evening and one we shall never forget.
Delicious miso glazed sea bass (double order for me) with sticky rice followed.
My dessert was this white chocolate croissant pudding.Linda Gentille's show was simply fabulous as usual. She is an incredible pianist and show person. She has the fastest fingers ever.
We sat on the front row next to our long time friends from Florida, Lyn & Eddie Zito. Linda had Eddie up on stage. When we finally got back to our suite around 10:30 after the show, they were bunkering fuel right below our balcony. At noon today the Captain said the provisions were aboard by 9pm last night and bunkering was completed by around 2am. We departed the port soon after that was completed.
It will take around 4 days at sea to reach Easter Island and another 5 days at sea to reach the French Polynesian islands. We are cruising at 20 knots today which is about as fast as the ship can go as the Captain is still planning a stop at Easter Island.
TODAY
We hit the treadmills at 9am today. Very few people in the fitness center, surprisingly. We had to hold on during our exercise today as it is a little rougher ride then we've had so far. We have crossed the Pacific several times and it has been our experience that the Pacific Ocean is usually a rougher ride than then crossing the Atlantic Ocean. At times the Pacific is not so peaceful!!
We had lunch down in Compass Rose today. I started with some tomato bisque followed by this duck spring roll. Spring roll was a little greasy but good. I really wanted the quiche again but menu has changed now.Main course of pull pork sliders, french fries, and cole slaw.
Thankfully the internet is much better today. Rebecca can again stream her soaps (Bold & Beautiful and Young & Restless) that she missed the last couple of days. The ship will be televising today's NFL playoff games on the suite tvs. Jaguars playing Chiefs at 4:30 (Eastern) followed by Eagles playing Giants at 8:15. We'll watch some of these games but still going down for cocktail hour at 5:45 followed by dinner in Compass Rose. The chef is preparing soft shell crabs again. Hopefully this time they will be french fried and not tempura like last time.
Here is the menu for tonight in Compass Rose. Tonight's show is featuring a magician, Levent. May watch the football game instead. He'll have a second show in a few days.
