This is our position at 1pm today. It is 71 degrees and quite windy up on deck. Seas are good and the water is very blue.
YESTERDAY AFTERNOON
Every afternoon they have a tea time from 4 to 5pm in the Horizon Lounge with a different theme. This theme is chocolate tea time. I gained a pound just taking these photos just prior to it beginning.
Chocolate fountain with stuff to dip in it.LAST NIGHT
We watched a little of the Jaguars/Chiefs game before going down for cocktail hour. I had my phone on the game. Could not watch it but kept track of the scoring.
This young lady was walking by our table in Compass Rose so I stopped her as had never seen her before. This is Ella the new bar manager who took Viktoria's place. Viktoria left for vacation in Lima.I had a shrimp cocktail to start with then we both had some asparagus soup which we love. They used to put some bits of smoked salmon in the soup but not any more.
Our soft shell crabs were perfect this time.
Chocolate truffle dome cake with ice cream. Back to watch the Eagles/Giants game. Unfortunately, the Eagles won.
TODAY
It's Sunday! After a while we lose track of what day of the week it is. I forget and picked up a sweet roll with our coffees this morning. Then I remembered it was caviar and eggs benedict Sunday. Rebecca had ordered room service breakfast but I went down to Compass Rose. I got there before it opened at 8am. It was very cold there so I came back and got a jacket.
On my way back down I ran into our new assistant suite steward, Gil. He just replaced Vincent in Lima. This is Marilou who was cleaning the bar chairs in the Mariner Lounge when I passed through.Mario brought my caviar and then eggs benedict this morning.
We decided to take a break from the treadmills today. I watched a recorded lecture by James Grant-Peterkin that he made a couple days days ago but shown this morning on our tv. It was about how the Polynesian islands were populated by the people coming in canoes from the Taiwan area over 1000 years ago. It was quite fascinating. He was talking about Easter Island (our next destination) today in the theater, titled "Maori-Rocking & Rolling". I went down but the theater was pretty full so I will watch a recording later on our tv. Hopefully when we arrive at Easter Island in a few days the sea conditions will be ok as this will be a tender port. I am hoping to provide you with many good photos of the Maori stone statues the island is famous for.
This is one of the maps James had during his lecture. It shows our route through the Polynesian islands. When we got back from lunch Bessie and Gil had cleaned our suite and left a letter from the ship. Easter Island is requiring everyone on the ship to have a covid antigen test which will be administered tomorrow morning. As far as we know there are no cases now on this ship.
This afternoon we will be watching the Bills/Buffalo game at 3pm our time (Eastern). At 5:30 Paul, our cruise director, will be holding an interdenominational church service. Guess we better go as we will need the Lord's help with our big Cowboys/49ers game at 6:30. We will be having our cocktails and dinner here in the suite while watching that game. Pedro, one of the head waiters, said he would deliver our jalapeno poppers to our suite at 6pm to enjoy with our cocktails. Rebecca will be ordering a pasta off tonight's Compass Rose menu--the farfalle pasta with shrimp, tomato, pesto, and mozzarella. Not sure but I will probably have a pizza.
Tonight's Compass Rose menu
There is a movie, "The Upside", scheduled for showing in the theater at 9:30. At 9:45 there will be a "Liars Club" scheduled in the Horizon Lounge. Not going to the movie but would like to go to the Liars Club if the game is over. It is always lots of fun and laughs. I panel of 3 or 4 staff members each give their definition of a never heard of word. Then we get to pick who was not lying.
