Day two in Singapore. Love this place. Clean city with very friendly people who speak English as their first language. To be another very warm day with thunderstorms forecast in the afternoon. It is 93 degrees at 3pm and no rain yet.
LAST EVENING
This evening
there is an exclusive World Cruise shoreside experience for world cruise
passengers. The tour ticket calls it an
“Illuminated Evening by the Bay”. At 5pm
we will be bused to the enchanting Singapore Gardens by the Bay. It is a stunning display of architecture with
the flower dome, the world’s largest glass greenhouse. It showcases a beautiful and unique display
of plant species from around the world.
We will be able to view the bay from the “water view room”, where we
will enjoy canapes and cocktails. Then
we will dine beneath an illuminated “field” of flowers blanketing the ceiling
in Flower Field Hall while there is a stage performance featuring the beauty
and culture of Singapore. We should
return to the ship around 9pm.
Arriving at the Garden. We had to walk couple hundred yards from bus to venue.
Piece of wood. Looks like a fish to me.Greeted by two young ladies
Canapes being prepared as we had beer or wine of mock Singapore Slings in the Water View Room. This room was WAY toooo small for this group. Everyone packed in it.

Our table: L to R::Cathi and John Begg, Marge Goddard, her friend?, Harvey, Marcia, Richard, and us.
Out of order but back at cocktail time.
Soup
We skipped dessert so as to be on one of the first buses back to the ship. Everyone had to pass through Immigration passport inspection AGAIN. This is why we wanted to return first.

Overall this was not a fun evening. We and MANY others were not pleased and would never do it again. Too many WCer's in the venue (around 500 of us). I got some feedback about it from a friend this morning when getting our coffees. He said they were not served until a lot of people were leaving and several more couples never did get served. We could not see the Malaysian dancers from our table. A red and white wine were served and not that great but they kept our glasses from being dry. I would like to know how many bottles of wine were served. Hundreds I would guess. There is to be another World Cruise Special Event in Namibia, Africa. I have heard many of our WC friends say they will not attend as just toooooo many people. We did the special event there back when on our 2010 WC. It was very nice but only half the number back then.
TODAY
This is a turn-around day. I mean end of a segment so some passengers leaving and other arriving. As I mentioned I will be meeting Marcia, Richard, & Harvey in the theater just before 10am as we will be doing the "Singapore by Boat & Trishaw" tour.
While waiting for my tour time I took this photo from our balcony. It shows the cable cars going to and from Sentosa Island. It is a small island but has a Universal Studios, water park, two golf courses, Hard Rock Cafe, other activities, and resorts.
This is the four of us tour bus. Another very nice one and good air conditioning. Need it today as it is
Colorful window casings. Our first stop was at the Singapore River Quay for a half hour boat ride on the river.
This is the boat.
"All aboard"
Took this photo of the sign--Boat Quay
Cavanaugh Bridge named after a former colonial time governor. You may remember this from yesterday. Merlion is the official mascot of Singapore.
Marina Sands again with shopping & restaurants all along the bottom. The end of our tour was to go up to the top of it as there is a viewing deck there. The four of us decided not to do it and caught a cab back to the ship.
Again the hand shaped thing is a museum.
Colorful seating area for events in the bay.
This is a concert hall and theater.
Next stop was at a trishaw park. Marcia was my partner.
Our bike guy took about 10 photos so I had to delete several. He was working hard for a tip.

Our guide today said you would never see a police car in Singapore but here was one. They have cameras all over the place and fines issued with them.
Love the sign. Made for Regent passengers
End of the ride. It was about 20 to 25 minutes long.
As I said at the last stop, Marina Bay Sands, the four us took a taxi back to the ship. We specifically told the taxi driver which cruise terminal we wanted but he took us to the other (newer) one to start with. A little out of the way but fare was still just $12.
I logged onto the cruise terminal's wifi to upload today's photos. That did not take long so back through Immigration check one last time. Back on the ship I dropped off my passport back at Reception Desk. Dropped my stuff in the suite and washed my hands well before heading up to La Veranda for a late lunch (1:30). At lunch I confirmed with Dominic our Prime 7 reservation tomorrow night to celebrate our anniversary.
It is now 3pm as I am finishing up today's post. New passengers arriving today. We had to relog on to the ship's internet. We have to do this at the beginning of every segment. This new segment is 17 nights long and only 5 days at sea so lots of ports. It will end in Dubai on April 16th.
We will be sailing again at 5pm and will be docking at Port Klang, port for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tomorrow morning at 8am. I am scheduled to do an 8 hour tour tomorrow and not back to the ship until around 4:30pm. OOPS! Change of plans! This is our 4th time to this port so I looked back at those blogs and found I did a tour very similar to the one planned for tomorrow. So I am not going on the LONG tour but will repost the blog post we did on a 2013 cruise that shows the same tour places and photos I would be getting tomorrow.
Tonight's Compass Rose menu. Just had veal piccata 3 nights ago. We have a new Executive Chef so guess he did not look back. Black mussels and veal piccata for us. There is no entertainment tonight just a popcorn movie in the theater. Of course after dinner some of the orchestra is playing dance music in the Horizon Lounge, Ross (the resident pianist) is playing in Mariner Lounge, a duo is playing in the Stars Lounge. Always some music every night.
