This is our noon position. Still in the Coral Sea but will be entering the Indian Ocean tomorrow. There are several rain showers today that we are passing through. Cooler today as is just 78 degrees.
LAST EVENING
Wayan is always our waiter in Prime 7. Unfortunately for us, he will be getting off for vacation when we arrive in Bali on February 27th. Quite a few of the Bali crew members will be getting off and more coming on.
We both started off with crab cakes.
I liked this Australian syrah so much the night before I asked for it again.Dominic, Prime 7 maitre'd, brought me out three 6 ounce filets for me to select the one I thought looked the best. This is the one I selected. I then coated it with the Lawry's lemon pepper shown in the above photo. Note the finger bowl so I could wash the pepper off my fingers. This is my "surf & turf". Instead of the lobster tail I asked for a couple scallops. I added a baked potato and one onion ring.Rebecca opted for the creole-style jumbo shrimp which she liked better after she added some siracha. She's a "spicy" lady!!
Instead of my usual popcorn sundae for dessert I had this very good red velvet cheesecake.
We tried the comedian's show but did not care for him so didn't stay long. Was up in balcony so it was easy to escape without disturbing anyone.
At the pool grill for lunch there is this New Orleans inspired buffet. Also shrimp po boys but not pictured.
We had lunch down in Compass Rose however. I ordered jambalaya but was dry with no creole tomato sauce. Just shrimp, chicken, sausage, and rice. So I told Joseph to take it back. I then ordered this shrimp po boy with extra shrimp but no lettuce. It was good.TODAY
We had room service for breakfast as usual this morning. Putu, another Bali waiter, came to pick up our tray after we had finished. He is also getting off in Bali. Seems our "Bali Mafia", as I call them, are leaving us for a much deserved vacation. My favorite bartender in Mariner Lounge, Ronalyn, is also leaving. Going to be a big crew change over.
So we are celebrating Mardi Gras on the ship today.
At the pool grill for lunch there is this New Orleans inspired buffet. Also shrimp po boys but not pictured.
At 1:30 there was a Mardi Gras party and parade in the atrium on decks 5 & 6. It was supposed to be up on pool deck but weather did not permit it. Too many rain showers passing.
Of course there was a huge King Cake.Tanner, our assistant cruise director, is announcing the king and queen nominations. Passengers were to nominate crew members to be Mardi Gras king & queen. Apparently there were 200 nominees and she read all their names. Lots of laughs when she read Paul's (cruise director) name a a queen candidate.
Our King and Queen pictured here. King Kushal (internet manager) and Gerti (waitress).
Here they are about to cut the King Cake.
They were presented with masks shown here.
Taken from deck 6.
Here they are on their "throne".
A parade followed but I left. It was certainly a lot of fun and everyone had a great time and lots of laughs. We bought our Mardi Gras beads with us and will be wearing them tonight.
Ominous looking weather in distance out our balcony. A big winter storm is supposed to it Durango now and for next couple of days. Lots of snow and high winds. It was 50 degrees there today however. Rebecca is catching up on the streaming of her soaps this afternoon while doing her nails. I will complete this post then watch today's lectures on tv.
This evening, dinner in Compass Rose after cocktails in usual place. Below is tonight's Compass Rose menu. We have ordered panko coated fried shrimp for our entrees however.
Tonight's show if featuring "The Diamonds". Three very attractive, young lady singers. I shall be on the front row!! Ok, another weird thing is happening tonight. We will be turning our clocks back 30 minutes. This to be on Darwin's time.
