DAY 47---AT SEA OFF NORTH COAST OF AUSTRALIA

 

Our noon position is entering the Timor Sea and getting closer to Darwin, Australia, where we will be docked tomorrow morning.  The weather outside has been miserable ever since departing Cairns.  Many rain showers every since.  Ride has not been bad however.  More showers forecast for Darwin tomorrow.

LAST EVENING

We started with a big Caesar salad with dressing on the side so I could add tabasco to the dressing.  No anchovies for Rebecca but I got extra.

Unfortunately there was a lot of stems that I cut out so Chef John brought me more romaine.

I had asked for 12 panko coated shrimp for our entrees.  We laughed when they brought two of these to the table.  12 for each of us.  Another miscommunication.  We gave one to Dara who will have them after she finishes work.

I had this peach & apple tart which was the spa and wellness selection menu.  Well, the ice cream wasn't.

"The Diamonds" were tonight's entertainers.  Of course we were on the front row for their show.

                             Loved their song selections from the '40s through 70's for this show.

One of them had a great voice.  The other two were good but not strong voices.  Still, we liked their show.  Choreography was amazing.

TODAY

        Today has been a super frustrating day.  I tried to make a payment to pay off our safari this morning.  I called Citi Mastercard first to advise I would be making a large payment.  So I went online and made the payment to Safari Africa.  Well, it triggered a fraud alert and my account was frozen.  I have spent the rest of today (6+ hours) on the phone with the fraud dept 5 times, service number 6 times, and spoke with 3 supervisors on different calls.  The last supervisor said they could not verify my account so they would mail me a letter with reference number to use.  I tried to tell them I was not going to be home until June 1st.  I tried one more time with regular customer service person.  She said she had opened my account again but not make the large transaction for at least 24 hours.  I won't use that card again for it.  So I hope the card IS open like she said.  It's now 3:30pm and I started this mess at 8:30 this morning.

        So tonight is our BIG night.  We have our special "Diamond Dinner" in Compass Rose with Marcia and 7 officers.  We selected the menu for it.  I will be posting it and photos of the dinner on tomorrow's post.

        We will be in Darwin tomorrow docking by 7am.  We have a tour to an air museum where there is a B-52 on display.  Two other couples will go along with our tour group as I will be giving the group a special tour of the B-52G.  I actually have flown this plane in combat during the Viet Nam War.  Photos will follow in a day or two.  Rebecca is even going on this tour!

        There is a special production cast show at 9:30.  Hopefully our dinner will be over by then.
