Historical/Background Info:
We
were here in 2013 and 2017. Mumbai was
named Bombay until 1995. So with a
metropolitan population of 18.5 million, Mumbai is India’s most populous city
and ninth most populous in the world. India
is the seventh-largest country by area and second-most populous country in
South Asia with a population of 1.4 billion. It is the most populous democracy in the
world. The capital of India is New
Delhi.
Mumbai is
the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of India, as well as
wealthiest. Until the 1970’s it mainly
owed its prosperity to textile mills and the seaport. Now it has diversified to include finance,
engineering, diamond polishing, healthcare, and IT (remember that Dell guy on
your phone). State and central
government employees make up a large percentage of the city’s work force. Mumbai is also the center of the Hindi movie
industry, “Bollywood”. Here’s one for
ya! Because cows are holy in India,
McDonald’s does not serve hamburgers, just chicken or vegan burgers.
LAST EVENING
We did go to the Mariner Lounge for our cocktail hour. I wanted a martini and did not have vodka in our suite, just bourbon. We sat at an isolated table for two but for some reason there was no one at the bar. Very weird! Guess they were resting after a day of touring in the heat.
Fried calamari was excellent again.
We both had the roasted turkey and stuffing. I had dark meat with mashed potatoes and Rebecca had white meat with baked potato.

I had a few bites of this almond cake.
OH,NO!
We returned to our suite after dinner as it was too early to go to the show. A few minutes before 9:00 I went down to the Mariner Lounge and get a "Happy Happy" drink and took it to the theater. I had left my phone in the suite so tried calling Rebecca to have her bring it. No answer so figured she was on the way. When she showed up she said she had tripped on the bed sheet and fell into the table injuring her side. So I took her to Reception and reported it before we returned to the suite. Shortly after that we got a call from medical asking her to come down to be checked. Lots of paperwork and then an xray of her rib area. Good news as no broken ribs. They tried to give her a topical ointment which we declined. They also tried to give her some meds but I told them we had Motrin. He said that was same as what they were giving her. Also some plastic bags for ice to put ice on her side.
This morning she is very sore and will be for a week or two.
TODAY
Yesterday afternoon during Captain Abhi's departure PA he said our side of the ship would be on the pier side since the other side got that view the past several ports.
Well, this is our balcony view today!! Sucks! They are building a new cruise terminal and lots of construction noise from that today.

Some women greeting the passengers as they leave the ship.
This morning I asked Bessie and Efrin to come in so I could tell them what happened last night and asked them to be sure the bed covering was tucked in so it would not be a trip hazard. Actually it had not been a problem before at night. Always is during morning as we pull them out while sleeping. But we always make sure to tuck them in after getting up so we, and especially the breakfast room service person, would not trip.
While I was doing my treadmill time, Rebecca said a housekeeping supervisor stopped by to check on her. When I was out on deck 6 taking the above photo the security officer who was taking the report last night in medical, asked how Rebecca was doing. He was a super nice man.
Lunch in Compass Rose. Pork sliders with fries. Another ghost-like day on board with most people off the ship on tours again today. Plus over 100 passengers left the ship for a 5 day trip to see the Taj Mahal. They will be meeting up with the ship again in Dubai.
This afternoon we watched the movie, "Jersey Boys". Loved the movie and love their music. When "Jersey Boys" (not the original group) was playing in Las Vegas we went to see their show.
The ship will not be sailing until 8pm but the local officials want everyone back on board by 6pm.
The next two days will be at sea enroute to Muscat, Oman. It'll still be warm but much less humidity.
This evening we will be having cocktails/wine back in our suite. I have ordered pig-in-a-blanket for 5:30.
We will be dining in Compass Rose and this is tonight's menu. The show tonight is featuring a comedian/vocialist, Fogge Flax. He impersonates other singers. Seems we may have seen him last year but not sure. We may see his show but sit up in balcony. As yesterday in Goa, here is the link to our "Highlights of Mumbai" photos that I took on our 2017 world cruise. Some of you may have a Google account and can open the link if you cut & paste it to your browser. They are pretty interesting but no captions.
